Introduction 

It's very funny how people close to us keeps the toughest secret and still smile like all is well, even we think those with the coolest face should have the simplest mind and secret, but that's all wrong. And sometimes loving could prove the hardest thing and toughest thing to do, especially when one isn't sure if the other feels the same. 

"Let's go through the shortcut, I still have lecture to attend and I am running late" Victoria said, urging the boy with her to succumb to her idea 

"It's to dry in there, missing just one class won't really harm you" the boy said and heaved loudly, seeing it was of no use 

"Shior " the girl said, as a means of mocking the boy "Oya na Mide" she said and grabbed him by the hand. 

Getting to almost half way into the lone road, someone came out from nowhere behind them and gradually began to increase his pace, raising their suspicion 

"I warned you" Mide said trying not to show the fear in his face 

Another came out before them, wielding a stick on his left hand and a cigarette in his mouth, puffing out smoke from the other end of the lips 

"Stop there " The huge man that was behind them ordered 

Mide halted immediately followed by Victoria who didn't seem to bother 

"Christ, how do I go up against these guys, and someone will be expecting me to form hard man now" Mide thought within himself as sweet broke out from his forehead and ran through the nose, down into his mouth 

"Your purse and your phone" the one with the stick ordered 

"Sir, please let us go, please"

"Begging this miscreants ?" Victoria asked with a wicked grin on her face. 

"Shut up, see you caused this, abi which kind girl are you the only phone with me, that has lifeline on rubberband, they will collect it to"

The thugs looked at each other and with a very strong push, they pulled Mide to the ground, followed by a blow to his face, splitting his lower lip.

Victoria held the one with the stick by the shoulder and with great force she flipped him around, almost effortlessly, making him crash against the waste bin beside her. 

"What happened? " the second asked looking confused,  seeing his mate unconscious and in bad shape 

"Ohhh Super girl abi? " he said and dashed at Victoria 

He screamed loudly as he made a fist and launched it at Victoria who moved aside a bit, twisted her body around and caught him by the arm and rammed her body against his. 

CRACK! Sound of breaking bones followed next. 

Mide gasped hard looking surprised 

"What just happened here? " he asked and quickly stood up

"Saved you, since you could not even attempt a hit"

"I was only trying to be a gentle man, you know what I'm made of na" Mide said trying to defend himself 

Chapter One 

Mide inserted the door key into the keyhole and turned it around, clinching tight to his laptop, gently he used his leg to hit the door and walked in, without thinking twice he dropped the laptop on his bed and walked towards his food shelve.

His room was a typical student room, an Arsenal football club wallpaper pasted on the wall above his bed, food shelf by the left corner of the room, a table and a plastic chair opposite the bed.

He let out a loud gulp, after drinking the water from the plastic cup, with an empty plate between his leg, and gently laid on his bed and slept off.

The sound of police siren blared from distance, creating disturbance in the environment, and that had nearly been a daily routine since the creation of the Polytechnic in the town, strange things had began to happen. 

Lifeless bodies, strange footprints, bullets, strange colors of blood and some other things that were too odd to explain. 

Mide suddenly woke up from his sleep, meeting total darkness, he quickly retrieved his phone from his pocket and put on the flaslight

"11:33pm" he said lazily as his feet hit against the empty plate.

He grunted and laid back, just then a gentle knock came at his door. 

"Father Lord" Mide said under his breath and shoved his phone under the bed. 

The knock came again, this time making his heart to beat rapidly, and followed by bead of sweat on his face 

"Abbey" a feminine voice came from the other side 

"Fuck " he thought within himself on hearing that name. 

"Who is there" Mide replied trying to be bold 

"It's Victoria "

Mide thought for a while, he knew no one knows him by that name, he had barely spent two weeks days as a fresher 

"Sorry I don't know you" he replied 

"The girl from the registration office, we met yesterday while doing our bio data and freshers registration "

"Ohh" Mide said and stood up, and brought out his phone. 

He unlocked the door and opened it, and without wasting any moment Victoria hurried in

"Why are you here? "

Victoria heaved relief and made herself comfortable on the chair 

"Who asked this one to sit down na, after wanting to kill me untimely " Mide thought within himself and hissed silently 

"So you didn't hear the police siren, gunshot and all? "

Mide racked his head and gave a funny face 

"I slept early, I was exhausted "

"I was returning from night class, when it happened, so I had to find somewhere to hid, before thinking of coming here, I live at the next building, saw you here earlier today so I came here directly " Victoria said and let out another sign of relief 

"That explains it" Mide replied and laid on his bed 

"It's big enough for three, if you don't mind" Mide said and adjusted himself well

Victoria opened her eyes, it was day already, she tilted her head to the left and saw Mide sleeping on the floor, which looked somehow uncomfortable for him. She stood up and focused on the table before the bed. 

Hand gloves, and a metallic short silver coated baton. 

"Could it be? " She asked herself and held the baton and hit it against her left arm, feeling the texture, this time She made it much more harder. 

"Good morning" Mide's voice came behind her. 

"Morning" she replied, turned around and held the baton up

"What's this? "

Mide sighed and grabbed the baton from her

"You can't just ask me stuffs" he said and laid it back on the table

"Don't you have class this morning?" 

Victoria shaked her head slightly and clicked her tongue 

"Today is our matriculation " She replied "Seems you're prepared already, hope your parents will be around? "

"As for my mom, yes but am not sure about my dad" Mide replied 

"Alright boo, see you, I'll come back, wait for me, we will go together" she said and unlocked the door. 

Certain she was far gone, Mide grabbed the baton and flinged it and grabbed it swiftly as it came back to him  

The door suddenly came open, startling Mide a bit 

"Tobi" He said and walked towards the food shelf and looked inside it

"Bro, I saw Vicky come out from here, what's up with her?" Tobi asked, licking his lower lips with his tongue. 

"Nothing, She came to ask something" Mide replied and brought out two noodles from his food shelf and set the pot on the gas cooker 

"See guy I like that girl o" Tobi said and made himself comfortable on the chair. 

"Talk to her na, will she bite you, and thank God you fine pass me"

Tobi was about replying when Mide's phone rang out. 

"Hello ma"

Mide squeezed his face tired by the many questions his mother asked 

"Yes MA, I'll be expecting you" he said and finally hanged up the call

Victoria zipped up her wine coloured fluffy gown and gently bent down to wear her black shoes beaming with joy, she grabbed her matriculation gown and hanged it around her neck. 

"Yea" She said and hurried out of her room. 

Deciding to take a faster route since her home was quite far from the school. 

From afar she saw someone dressed in complete black, having a school bag on him, a girl laying in a mid dark corner.

She watched as two huge figure came from side of the walkway, grinning wickedly at him.

Quickly she hid herself. 

The boy retrieved two batons from his bag and smashed them together. 

"I'll enjoy doing this" he said and moved back two steps, taking a quick glance at the girl 

"Argh! " the boy screamed as he dashed towards the thugs, slamming himself against the body of the first thug, he pushed him to the ground and smacked his feet against his face, tearing it apart, the second thug grabbed him from behind by the waist and gave him a back slam. 

"Huhmph" the boy groaned in pain and spitted blood from his mouth 

"You should have just walked off when you had the chance" a thug said and was about grabbing the boy, only to meet himself on the ground.

"Don't underestimate anyone" the boy replied and gave him rapid punch on the face, sending him unconscious 

The second thug got angry and dashed at the boy. The boy grinned and threw his Baton forward. 

"Quite good" Victoria said from where she hid and suddenly noticed the baton, seeing it looked familiar

"Mide"

The thug fell to the ground and quickly the boy ran to the unconscious girl, placing a finger across her neck to felt her pulse 

"You'll make it" he said and removed his face cap and the handkerchief he used in disguising his face and turned around. 

"Got you" She said and used her phone to capture his face 

The chairs in the auditorium were splitted into four sections per department in the school, Accounting, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Statistic. 

Mide walked into the school compound and headed straight to the auditorium taking the last row seat in Computer Science. 

He rolled his tongue inside his mouth and grinned in pain 

"Bastard hit me too hard" he said and adjusted his matriculation gown. 

The occasion finally came to an end, a joyful moment for both sides especially parents who had come to celebrate with their child.

Mide sighted his mother at tbe gate with his two siblings and another well wisher who was his mother's friend. 

Not long the governor's convoy entered into the school. 

"Mide" Victoria's voice came from afar

"Your parents? " She asked 

"Mom just arrived and dad is with the governor's convoy, Special Adviser on Photography " Mide replied and ran up to his mother, with Victoria tagging behind. 

She immediately knelt down to greet Mide's mother then stood up

"Mummy I'm the one taking care of your son ma " She said 

Mide squeezed his face, looking down and next to his sister's face who winked at him. 

"Mide, have been looking around for you" his father's voice came from the crowd, walking up to them. 

"Take" He said and squeezed Naira notes into his hand. 

"I won't be staying long, I came with the troop, follow me, let me take a picture of you and the governor "

Mide sighed and hurried after his father, leaving Victoria and his mother to themselves. 

Chapter Two 

Victoria walked into the Cyber cafe which was on the other side of the road, facing the school gate. 

"Bishop" she called out to the manager of the cafe.

Mide focused on his laptop, pretending not to notice her, suddenly he felt a slight hit on his head. 

"You can't greet abi" she said and hit him on the head again. 

"Hey, what's up? "

Victoria sat beside him and waited patiently till it was her turn. 

"I want to print out my course form for approval" She said and stood up. 

"Bishop, I need to type this document immediately it's urgent please " an elderly woman said and began blowing herself with the white mini fan with her, as she was sweating hard. 

Bishop sighed already exhausted 

"Bring it MA, I'll type it" Mide said and collected the document 

Doubting his efficiency, Bishop reluctantly allowed Mide do it. 

"I'm through " Mide said after about five minutes later

Going through the document, leave everyone in total shock, not sure how he did it within minutes.

A loud screeching noise sounded outside the cafe, on the tarred road, loosing control, a delivery truck tumbled towards the cafe, which threw everyone into panic except Mide and Victoria. 

A bright yellow light, suddenly illuminated the vicinity, and instantly the car hanged in mid air. 

Mide looked around and noticed Victoria was missing. 

"Where did she go? "

The truck slowly came down to the ground, holding firm to it, was a girl, dressed in orange jump suit, and yellow inner dress, with glowing wings and a mask which hid her identity. 

The light suddenly flashed brightly, forcing everyone to close thier eyes when it went down, the girl was gone. 

"God saved our lives" Victoria said behind them, placing both hands on her chest. 

Mide turned around and looked her straight in the eye and walked out.

The week went by, with nothing really special happening, only for the diverse lifestyle among students, the flashy and fancy, the club life, the fighters, politics, bookworm, those who see life on a different side entirely, those who never wished to even be there. 

Victoria walked passed Mide's lecture theatre, passing by the window where he sat, which immediately diverted his attention from the teaching, finding it harder concentrate, his mind flashed back to the second day after the matriculation ceremony, his mother showering praises about Victoria, how nice she was, and would do as a good person to be with, whatever she meant by that statement. 

"I see the way, you've been staring at her, do you like her? " the girl seated beside him asked 

"Like who?" he asked the girl seated beside him and looked at her.

"She's my school daughter and I can talk to her on your behalf" 

Mide dropped his jaw and then covered his note book 

"She has a boyfriend, that I know of, and even if she doesn't, I stand no chance with her, it's a no no for ugly guys" Mide said and was relieved as the lecture was over.

SOMEWHERE AROUND THE CITY

Three girls looking unconscious were forced into separate water barrel which were empty, the men dressed in overall black clothing loaded the barrel into the van and tapped on the body, signalling to the driver to ignite the engine. 

The tires of the vehicle suddenly deflated, followed by a soft scratch on the body of the vehicle. 

"He is here" one of the men said and jumped down from the vehicle holding tight to his locally made pistol. 

"Urgmph" the man groaned as he fell to the ground, and instantly he was missing

"Kill anything you see"

A shock wave suddenly hit the vehicle, moving it vigorously, from above, a yellow bright light illuminated the entire place, revealing a girl dressed in orange jump cloth and yellow cloth beneath, which also covered her entire face, leaving only her hair. 

She dashed at one of the men, grabbed him by the shoulder and three him against the second.

The driver quickly alighted the vehicle and took to his heel, a baton suddenly rolled out from nowhere passing in front of the girl, who got a glimpse of it. 

"That baton" She said as she watched the baton hit the man and rolled back to where it came from. 

"Hey, you! " She shouted and ran after the image. 

Spreading out her glowing wings, she leaped on the roof of a building, chasing after the image dressed in black. 

"I said stop" She screamed and shot out a wave ball from her hand. 

Narrowing missing the person, the wave sent him rolling off the roof. Getting to where the person had fall, she looked around as there was no trace of anyone. 

She felt a hard metal on her back and stood still. 

"Why do you keep following me" the masculine voice asked from behind. 

The girl suddenly turned around, smacking the boy on his jaw, which sent him hard to the floor. 

Police siren blared from distance filling the entire silence of the night, diverting her attention. 

"Back to you" She said only to see no one was there. 

Chapter Three

Tobi leaned on the wall, as Mide unlocked the padlock.

"Argh, see bro, I can't take my eyes off that girl, seriously, I love her, her hips, beautiful stature and that her lips"

"Is it her figure you like or her personality? " Mide asked and pushed the door open. 

"See forget that, I sha like her"

Mide dropped his bag and went straight to the food shelf and brought out a sealed food, while Tobi prepared the pot and the gas cooker, suddenly the door came open. 

"What if I'm naked? " Mide shouted as Victoria walked in. 

"Nothing new"

"Come and cook for us na" Tobi said gladly. 

"Hmm, okay"

"No oil, lemme go get it" Mide said and walked out. 

"I hope it doesn't go wrong, dude could be crazy at times" Mide said in his mind and hurried out. 

After purchasing the oil, Mide heard someone calling his name from afar, seeing who it was, Samuel his course mate ran up to him. 

"Bro, what's up? " Samuel said as they exchanged greetings. 

"Good"

"See I really need your help "

"Let's hear it" Mide replied calmly

"I have issues with my room mate, the guy smokes and all, something I have allergy to, you're the only one I can think off"

Mide was muted for a while thinking about the situation 

"Alright, I got your back " Mide replied. 

"Thanks man" Samuel said and moved back a bit. 

"I'll see you around, I have things to do at Bishop's Court" Samuel said and walked off. 

Mide opened the door, entering into his room, he noticed the atmosphere was not the way he had left it, something was up, looking at Tobi's face, who seemed to be faking a smile, and Victoria who looked unbothered. 

"Bro, I'm leaving, I'll be back soon" Tobi said and hurriedly went out. 

Mide looked at Victoria with a questioning look. 

"Well, he wooed me and I declined, I'm not interested in him" Victoria said and emptied the oil into the pot on the gas cooker. 

"Girls and heartbreaking, so easy for you guys"

"Not that, I have someone I'm interested in, but he his not talking, I don't think he is ready"

Mide laughed and passed Victoria a plate. 

"But you have a boyfriend " he said within himself. 

For a moment he stood motionless, paying details to Victoria. 

"All is well, Samuel, the brilliant dude in my department is coming in the evening, living here for the main time" Mide said. 

"He was with your friend "

"Food is ready and less I forget, May 12 is my birthday o, so start thinking about nice things to get me"

"This meal will decide what I get" Mide said jokingly

Gun shot suddenly filled the air, followed by a loud bang. Mide took a quick look at Victoria, who also looked back, putting the spoon with her back into the plate. 

"I have to go, that sound is still far off " Victoria said and quickly stood up. 

"It's too dangerous, relax" Mide said and quickly locked the door. 

Victoria's phone rang on the table and she hurriedly made for it, answered the call and hanged up moments later. 

"I have to go" she said and without permission opened the door and ran out. 

"Okay " Mide said and ran to his cloth box, turning it upside down, he pulled out a black cloth from it, a face cap and hastily changed into them, he lifted his bed up and retrieved the batons that were beneath and climbed out through the window. 

Standing on the roof top of the three storey building, Mide looked around, the empty community, seeing a black car, driving furiously in pursuit by the police, Mide dressed in his vigilante cloth, took seven step backward and dashed forward, getting to the edge of the roof, he leaped on to the next building, running as fast as possible, rapid gun fire were exchange by both the police and their target, suddenly the police vehicle somersaulted, crashing against an electric pole, Mide groaned as he leaped from one building to another, he dived down the rooftop, landing directly on the rooftop of the black car, with a loud thud. 

"What's that? " one of the thieves shouted and peeped through the window. 

Mide quickly grabbed him by the shirt and pulled him out of the moving car. 

"Shoot that thing" the driver shouted and took a sharp turn, which threw Mide off the car. 

He quickly picked himself up and threw the baton, which moved swiftly, broke the back glass, followed by the car crashing against a building. 

A blast suddenly hit him on the back, which sent him distance away. 

"We meet again " 

Looking back he saw the girl from the previous night. 

"What do you want? " Mide groaned still laying on the ground. 

"You will get yourself killed, no super power nothing, and you keep going after people stronger than you, you keep spoiling my lead on them" the girl shouted. 

"Come" she said and grabbed helpless Mide by the shirt, which also covered his nose and mouth.

"Mide, knew it was you all along, I have proof on my phone, saw you saving that girl"

"I don't know what you're talking about " Mide denied and headbutt the girl on the face, and was gone before she could recover.

Victoria sat on her bed, feeling dejected, as she placed her hands on her bleeding forehead.

"Almost had him there " She said grunting in pain. 

Scrolling through the gallery of her phone, she was shocked to see all the pictures on it were deleted. 

"Caroline!!!" Victoria shouted at the top of her voice and almost immediately a little girl ran in. 

"Did you press my phone while I was charging it? " She asked with a murderous look. 

"I only checked the pictures "

"Get out" Victoria said with her eyes closed  

"No more proof" she sighed and heard Mide's voice. 

"Come in she said before he could place a knock on the door. 

"What happened to you? " Mide asked still standing. 

"The fear of gun" Samuel's voice came from outside, and he entered also. 

"You have to See Me, thank God Mide's door was not locked, I was bringing my stuffs when it happened " Samuel said and laid down on the bed. 

"by the way, the food I saw, I already consumed them "

Mide thought for a while about the bleeding forehead, could it be, Victoria is the Firefly he has been encountering or it was something else 

"Your head" Mide said again 

"I fell"

Victoria stood up and walked closer to Mide.

"How good are you in ludo? "

Mide giggled and looked at Samuel 

"Legend " he said and smiled. 

"Who else has seen those two vigilante going after bad guys, I heard the police busted some godfathers base on the lead they got from firefly " Samuel said and stood up. 

"Firefly should stop getting into the way of Blacks" Mide said, looking straight at Victoria 

"Wait, he even has a name, the dude is lame, he'd get himself killed " Samuel said 

"Yeah, totally agree with you, he has been poke nosing in recent days " Victoria said supporting Samuel 

"She'll die soon" Mide said with a stern face looking at Victoria 

"Blacks will die this night, if he comes out " 

Samuel looked at both of them looking confused 

"You guys are taking it personal, you okay"

"Ludo" Mide said and walked out 

Chapter Four 

10:23PM

Somewhere around the City

" We've had enough of those two crazy children, running around in stupid costumes and spoiling all our business deals" A pot bellied man among five other shouted and adjusted his white agbada by the hem and let out a grudge. 

"Duro, we have to handle this matter with care" the leader said and stood up from his seat. 

The room was illuminated with bright fluorescent bulbs, neatly embedded into the wall, massive furnished room and matching cushion chairs. 

"Leader, it's not possible, these children, I'm sure are from the polytechnic, ever since the founding, and thier intake, there has been problem"

Everyone kept mute for a while, deep in their thought, each one of them had in one way or the other being threatened by Fire fly and Blacks.

Mide sat on his bed, his laptop in between his legs, he annoyingly removed the ejected disk from the disk drive of the laptop and inserted another disk into it. 

"I've tried this OS again and it's hanging half way, hope this one works fine" he saif to Samuel who was busy with his phone while charging it. 

"Chill first, ehn ehn, bro, I saw something strange with you today" Samuel said and minimized the app on his phone and pressed the power button, turned himself around and looked at Mide. 

"What? "

"Victoria, I saw the way you were staring at her in school today, first when she went to the lab, second you were talking to her inside the lecture room in front of a lecturer who was to take the class at that moment " Samuel said with a wide grin. 

Mide twitched his pointed nose and hissed, and concentrated back on his laptop. 

"The HOD asked me about you and her sha"

Mide's heart skipped, racing a million time under little timing, he felt heat from within and looked at his room mate 

"Seriously " Mide said with eyes wide open. 

"Yes, he said you guys are fitting sha and he's happy about it being that you're his brother and you can cope with education and some little extra life " 

Mide let out a hysterical laughter and rolled on the bed

"Bloody liar! " he shouted and just then a knock came in. 

Victoria entered with her friend, and they both instantly went for the pot, grabbed spoons and sat down to begin feasting. 

"You people can't greet abi? " Samuel asked and winked at Mide. 

"First thing first" Fatima replied 

"Lemme get you guys water" Samuel said, hiding loads of laughter within him, Mide quickly stood up and tagged along 

"You must be mad" Mide shouted and punched Samuel on the back "I knew your plan, leave me there alone right"

"But you denied you loved her, why are you shaking? "

"I'm not"

"You're hands are already dripping, let's just get something and go back "

A loud deafening sound shook the entire city, shaking the foundation of every house in the city, horrible noises followed, heavy feet pounding against the ground. 

Mide suddenly stood up from the bed, beside Victoria, who also stood up at the same moment. 

"What's happening?" Samuel's voice came out faintly from where he slept, his bed beside Mide's own. 

"Nothing" Mide replied and dashed out of the room, with Victoria following behind. 

Getting outside, they were shocked to see everywhere in ruins, burning cars, collapsed building, fumes of thick smokes from afar

Mide grabbed Victoria's arm pulling her back with great force 

"Where do you think you're going? " he asked and dragged her aside, pulling her close to himself as he leaned behind a pillar, narrowly escaping a sharp metal that came at them. 

"That was close" Mide said and heaved with relief. 

"People might be stucked in those building, I think I might help" Victoria replied finding a way to run off. 

Samuel ran out, followed by Fatima, both shocked at the horrible situation of things. 

A car suddenly drove out from the left side of the road, a pickup van, from it group of boys dressed in red beret, white shirt and black trousers jumped down, firing sporadically and chanting odd war songs. 

Samuel instantly held Fatima by the arm and ran back in, hoping Mide and Victoria would do the same. 

Before Mide could looked back at Victoria, she was gone, he also ran into the compound.

Blacks stood on top of a two storey building, holding tight to his batons, seeing Firefly appear from nowhere, ramming herself against the van. 

Blacks grabbed an opponent by the neck and snapped it easily, before he could get Firefly unaware. 

"You! " Firefly said and walked closer to Blacks. 

"Good you're here, I finally found lead, it happens this city we are in, is ruled by Dark Lords, a cult group, it has been so from the very start, but a heist as big as this has never come up and seems we are the cause" Firefly said and walked down the street. 

"Alright, seems we are both on same track, this names and pictures, are the ones we need to bring down, the King's death has something to do with it, since he stood against them, even from my lead, the Polytechnic also has some little issue in this" Blacks said and brought out his phone, opened the gallery and handed it over to Firefly. 

Firefly suddenly paused, and examined the phone. 

"Mide!! " She screamed out loudly and grabbed him by the shoulder and pulled him into a discreet area. 

She pulled of her mask and breathed heavily. 

"Busted" Blacks replied and pulled off his mask. 

For a moment they both went dumb, that very spot Mide wished he could confess his hidden love to her, but as bold as he was, approaching a lady was the most difficult in his entire life. 

"Alright, enough of the staring, let's see what's the cause of this" She said pulled back her mask on. 

Later in the evening, Mide laid on his bed, in deep thought, sighing constantly. 

"Bro, what's up with this your sigh, what's wrong? " Samuel asked. 

"And also your food, twenty minutes gone, you haven't touched it" 

Mide sighed again and stood up

"Victoria, I really love her and I don't know how to tell her"

"Simple, walk up to her and talk"

"I've never loved a girl talk less of approaching her" Mide replied and rolled on the bed. 

"I have your back, I'll talk to her on your behalf and also I'll put you through some tactics" Samuel replied and stood up 

"I won't be sleeping here tonight, I have things to do at Bishop's Court, you can also come along"

"Not interested, I have movies to see on my laptop, thanks"

A calm knock came at the door, quickly Mide paused the movie and opened the door, a strong force suddenly pushed him back, making him step on the laptop screen, dealing minimal damage to the lower part. 

Four hefty guys walked into the room and locked the door

"What's this? " Mide asked angrily and stood his ground. 

"This is just a warning, my girlfriend has been picking interest in you lately and I don't like it, and just today she broke up with me, because of you" one of the masked men said and suddenly they all pounced on Mide, hitting him on every side. 

Mide found his spot and smacked one on the face, quickly standing up, he grabbed his pressing iron beside the bed and smacked it on another's face, someone grabbed him by the waist, pulled him down and hit an object on Mide's head making him unconscious. 

Chapter 6

Weeks later 

After the day lecture Samuel and Mide walked out of the lecture theatre and decided to head towards the table tennis court, seeing Victoria from afar, Samuel tapped Mide by the shoulder and signalled him to look towards her direction. 

"See the cause of your problem, why don't you approach her, and know you're going to be beaten once again for love"

Mide sighed and turned around, pretending like he didn't notice her and took the opposite walk way, walking through the prohibited field and went out of the school

A huge vehicle suddenly crashed through the school gate and was followed by three SUVs, driving roughly into the compound.

From each car except the one in the middle, alighted four men dressed in black, with fierce look on their face, the four from the last car, went to the rammed gate and stood at the post, while another shot the security man in the leg, and instantly everywhere went tensed. 

Two men dressed in white suits, alighted from the middle car, and walked around, while the guards went further into the institution, from one lecture room, and offices, they rallied everyone into the open space.

One of the lecturers stood up, and spoke 

"This isn't the way things should be done, Senators " He said

The man in white, with a bald head smiled and walked closer, chuckling as he walked forward. 

"Well, this city is ours, we run the affairs, and suddenly someone from nowhere, just shows up and begins turning things around" The man shouted and was followed by spree of bullets into the air, to scare the hostages. 

"What I want is simple, produce those two idiots for me, I know there are from this school"

Victoria, looked around, where she laid on the ground, seeing everyone were carried away, she made bright light illuminate from her body, which shined so bright, for a seconds everyone was unable to see, turning into firefly she dashed out of the school, hitting hard against one of the guards that stood at the gate. 

"Follow her! " the bald man shouted and dashed into the car, followed by his colleague. 

Standing at the rooftop, Firefly flew at Mide, who was already dressed in his alter ego costume. 

"I heard the noise" Blacks said and watched as the cars drove out of the school. 

"This may be the right moment, they brought the fight to us"

"The communication lines are down" Blacks replied, and showed firefly the empty reception bars on his phone. 

"That explains it, we lead them out of the main street to avoid casualties " 

A bullet suddenly hit Firefly, and bounced off, turning towards the direction, where it came from

"On second thought" she said and shot out white light from her right hand, which went towards the direction the bullet had come from and exploded the building afar off

"Hey" Blacks said and avoided gaze with firefly. 

"What? "

"I gained admission into the university"

Firefly kept mute for a while and stuttered 

"Kill them!! "

Blacks leaped down the rooftop, rolling on the ground, he threw his batons at the guards, and disarmed the closest one, and grabbed his pistol, and ducked behind a building for safety as rapid gun fire came at him. 

Firefly screamed loudly and rammed herself with great force against a car, which led to an explosion, she flew at another, and raised it into the air, by the bonnet and smashed it on the ground, splitting it into two, she grabbed an half and threw it at approaching enemy vehicle. She grabbed a burning tyre and threw it at a guard that shot at her. 

Seeing how furious she fought, the senators alighted their car, which was at a safer distance from the fight scene. 

Black came out of hiding and ran over the car debris before him, chasing the senators, a car suddenly drove out from the corner before him, almost hitting him, Blacks quickly dived over it, the car stopped beside the senators and quickly they got it. 

"They're getting away " Blacks shouted, at Firefly who was fighting furiously. 

A group of people appeared before the car, wielding cutlass, woods and stones on their hands, the car halted and was about going into reverse, just then another group of people came out from behind. 

"Just crush them" the senators shouted angrily, hitting the driver. 

The driver alighted the car and took to his heels, following the path through the house beside him. 

The mob dashed at the car, shouting fiercely, without wasting time, they threw their weapons at the car, smashing the glasses of the car. 

Blacks laid on the ground, breathing heavily and threw the gun with him away, he looked around and saw firefly was gone. 

Few weeks later. 

Mide began bringing out his properties, and began arranging them into the pickup van, he hired to pack his properties. 

"That's the last of it" Samuel said as he helped Mide put his gas cylinder into the vehicle. 

"Have you told Victoria? "

"I told her three days ago and I haven't seen her since then"

"I mean the other one"

"No, I don't know how, maybe in future time"

Mide walked into the building of a radio station, dressed in a blue hood and black trouser, he went directly to the reception and spoke with the lady at the desk. 

"Good morning " the lady greeted with a warm smile. "How can we help you? "

"I came to make a special request, My girlfriend's birthday is in three days time, I was hoping she can be called by midnight, May 11/12 and be wished a happy B-Day " Mide said calmly.

"Sure, all you need to do is, Huuhn, here write her number, and her name, and met the boy at the counter there to make payment, it isn't much" the lady replied.
